Description

Masala chai latte with real tea and cardamom from Kerala. Made with coconut milk, not dairy.

Ingredients

Spiced Black Tea Concentrate (Water, Black Tea, Cardamom, Star Anise, Cinnamon, Cloves), Water, Sugar, Organic Coconut Milk, Organic Tapioca Maltodextrin, Cellulose Gel, Sunflower Lecithin (an emulsifier), Salt, Tripotassium Phosphate, Dipotassium Phosphate, Cellulose Gum, Natural Flavors, Sodium Hexametaphosphate, Molasses.

Where It Comes From

Cardamom: Family farm in Chathurangapara, Kerala (Western Ghats, around 1000m elevation). Hand-picked.
Black tea: Idukki district, Kerala. Cold-brewed for 1-2 hours.
Cloves: Partner farms in Kerala. Adds depth and warmth without overpowering.
Cinnamon: True Ceylon from Sri Lanka. Adds complex, delicate sweetness.
Coconut milk: Organic farms, Sri Lanka.
Star anise: Vietnam (Searching for partner farms)

How We Make It

We roast spices in small batches - around 400°F for 4-5 minutes, depending on batch size. Watch for toasted, caramelized notes without crossing into burnt (the difference is just a wayward glance). Grind within an hour or two to preserve essential oils.
Black tea is cold-brewed for 1-2 hours (not boiled) to extract flavor without bitterness. We infuse fresh-ground spices into brewed tea, then fold in coconut milk at the right temperature.

How To Drink

Masala Chai with Coconut Milk

Enjoy straight from the can or poured over ice for a refreshing, spiced coconut chai. Prefer it warm? Heat gently on the stove without boiling to preserve the flavor of the spices. Shake well before opening to fully blend the coconut milk and chai.

Best served: Chilled, right from the can and in the company of others.
Experimentation tip: Pour over ice with a pinch of extra cinnamon or cardamom to elevate the spice profile.
When to drink: Morning ritual, afternoon reset catching up with a friend, or on-the-go chai moment

FAQ

Can I drink this cold or does it need to be heated?

Both! Shake well and pour over ice (most people drink it cold), or heat gently in a pot until steaming

Cold: Great on hot days, refreshing
Warm or Hot: Perfect for cold mornings or when you want that cozy feeling

How long does it last after I open it?

Once opened, refrigerate and drink within 1-2 days for best flavor. Unopened cans are shelf-stable for 12 months - check the date on the bottom of the can.

Pro tip: Pour leftover chai into a glass jar with a lid before refrigerating and it will last much longer.

Is this like coffee shop chai lattes?

Not really. Coffee-shop chai lattes use concentrate with extract and 25g+ sugar per large. This has real stone-ground cardamom and 8g sugar per can - about 1/3 the sweetness.

Flavor: Theirs is syrup-forward. Ours is spice-forward. You taste cardamom and cloves, not just sugar.

Format: Theirs is made fresh per order with steamed milk. Ours is ready-to-drink from a can - same convenience as cold brew coffee.

Which is better? Depends what you're looking for. If you want fast, familiar, and sweet - they're great. If you want real spices and less sugar - try this.

Will this work in coffee recipes like a dirty chai?

Yes! Add a shot of espresso to make a dirty chai latte. Or use it in smoothies, overnight oats, chia pudding - anywhere you'd use regular chai.

Some people even use it as a cocktail mixer (we've heard chai + bourbon is good, but we haven't tested that thoroughly yet).

Do you have a version without coconut milk?

Not yet. We're testing a few things but nothing ready to ship. Coconut milk is what makes this shelf-stable without preservatives, so switching to dairy requires rethinking the whole formula.

Is this actually authentic chai?

Authentic as you can get in a can, yeah.

Traditional Kerala chai is made fresh - boiled on a stove with loose tea and whole spices, milk added at the end, strained through cloth, served in small glasses. Usually while sitting and talking.

We can't replicate the "made fresh every time" part (that's the nature of canning). But we use the same ingredients - real cardamom, black tea, coconut milk - and we slow-brew it instead of using instant powder.

The process is different (cold-brew for 1-2 hours vs. boiling), but the flavor profile is close.

How many servings per can?

Officially, 2 servings (4 oz each). Realistically? Some people drink the whole can - it’s hard not to.

The 4-pack gives you 4 cans = 8 servings = enough for 1 week if you have one serving per day.
